The Espace Gallo-Romain is a one-of-a-kind archaeological museum. It invites visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the lives of the inhabitants of Roman Gaul 2,000 years ago.

The museum’s layout combines archaeological artefacts with explanations of history and daily life, all enhanced by interactive elements, drawings, models and vivid narratives that bring the exhibits to life.

Ideal for families and school groups, the Gallo-Roman Centre offers a wide range of exhibitions, guided tours, workshops and activities all year round.

The boats of Pommeroeul

The Espace gallo-romain in Ath has two exceptionally well-preserved Gallo-Roman boats. Both come from the archaeological site at Pommeroeul : a barge and a canoe.

The Espace Gallo-Romain has been open to the public since 1997. Located in the heart of the city of Ath, it is housed in the former Académie de Dessin with its beautiful neoclassical façade.

SCHEDULE

Open in summer (1 April to 30 September) Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm. Weekends and public holidays from 2pm to 6pm.

Open in winter (1 October to 31 March) Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm.
